Taste, smell and see the many uses of lavender
SAN FRANCISCO (July 23, 2014) – Sofitel San Francisco Bay hosts “Fete de la Lavande,” a culinary celebration, from Monday, July 28 – Friday, August 8. The luxury hotel, which infuses the guest experience with lavender sights, tastes and smells year-round will offer lavender inspired drinks and bites including lavender duck and strawberry salad, lavender-goat cheese crusted beef filet, and lavender-white chocolate crème brulee to diners at Bay 223 and guests to Bay Bar. Guests will also witness the herbs many inspired uses including the exquisite scent throughout the property.
Sofitel San Francisco’s proximity to the lavender fields of Sonoma, California is reminiscent of the famed purple fields of Provence, France creating a strong cultural connection between the areas. Throughout July, both regions are radiant with purple flowers, attracting travelers near and far to see the violet hues. For travelers who can’t get all the way to France, the radiant experience is closer to home in California, and celebrated in French style at Sofitel San Francisco Bay.
Each summer, Fete de la Lavande is celebrated in Provence, France to as a day-long festival dedicated entirely to lavender. Visitors are invited to witness villagers in traditional dress, parades and markets full of locally produced lavender goods. The festive day typically ends in a communal dinner with lavender-based dishes.
